Why walk?
The Hand of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center is a non-profit organization providing hope and help to those facing unplanned pregnancies. Your support saves lives!
When and Where?
Our fifth annual Walk for Life will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at South Park in Fuquay-Varina, NC from 2:00-4:00PM, with registration starting at 1:30PM. A detailed map can be found above.
What if it rains?
We will hold the walk indoors if it rains. Our rain location is South Park Community Center, same location as the walk.
How long is the walk?
The walk is one mile, or three laps around the track. Strollers, wheelchairs, motorized scooters, wagons, etc. are welcome on the walk for anyone who is unable to walk this distance.
What if I can’t make it that day?
If you can’t make it on the day of the walk, you can still participate. Just walk one mile on your own and turn in any collected pledges to the center.
Do I have to get pledges in order to walk?
No, everyone is welcome to support the cause of life by walking with us in the Walk for Life. But getting pledges is easier than you may think. Click on the Register Now link above and get started. You will be able to send an email to family and friends asking for pledges. You may be surprised at who responds, and any money donated will go directly towards saving lives, right here in our community! Plus, you’ll earn some great prizes. Our new system will allow your donors to give online via credit card or electronic check. And you can collect any cash donations and then convert them to an electronic check in order to get credit towards reaching your fundraising goal. Please call us at 577-8002 if you have any additional questions about getting pledges.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, all donations are tax-deductible. Tax receipts are mailed at the end of the year, but if you need a receipt sooner, we will be happy to provide one. Just contact our office during business hours.
What is the Fun Run?
Our walk begins with the Fun Run! The Fun Run is a 50 yard dash run in groups based on age. It is a fun footrace for kids of all ages and a great way to kick off our walk. All kids 12 and under who participate will receive a prize for completing the race.
Will food be available?
Concessions, including hot dogs and hamburgers, will be available starting at 12:30pm.
How do I get a t-shirt?
Just raise $150 in pledges or volunteer to help with the Walk for Life and you will get a free t-shirt! Short-sleeved walk shirts can also be purchased at the walk for $10.00 each. Long-sleeved walk t-shirts will be available for $15.00 each. Sweatshirts will be available for $20.00 each.
How do the teams work?
It is easy! Gather 10 people from your Sunday School class, youth group, civic group, scouts group, sports team, neighborhood, home school group, dance studio, gym, or any other group that you are a part of and register by calling the center at 577-8002 or email tonya@handofhope.net. You and your team will be eligible to win the awesome team prize!
